Just like that

Just like that construction season started again. Just like that I regret not

lifting weights all winter. Just like that the projects in the attic will become the lowest items on the list. Just like that I’ve got a paintbrush in my hand, like usual I could add.

I was alternating between attic projects and working on the 3 table project (planning a separate post about that) and then boom.

He did a drawing, asked me a couple of opinions and bought lumber, in the span of about 3 days. It’s too cold to do the stone work so we are working on finishing up the railing system for the balcony.

The posts all have to be trimmed, sanded and painted. The railing and the spindles needs to be cut to size and, you guessed it, painted. The issue right now is that it’s spring and every last item requires paint. Which requires 10 degrees minimum for 4 hours so I have to be strategic about my activities.

The base plate is ready to install and Ron created the post fastening system yesterday. It was start from scratch or modify the heck out of custom ones so he just made 10 himself.

So now it’s just a matter of pulling all those items together and boom! It does seems like a relatively small project but it will make a huge difference to the appearance of the house.

Of course we then zipped off to do some demo when we should have been home working on said project. There was an old lean to made of 4 x 4’s and long fence poles that was falling down which required our attention.

It’s now gone and I totally remember why I was going to lift weights all winter. All 125 poles are now stacked awaiting a summer without big projects. 😂We haven’t had one of those for a while!
